A Way to Look at Our Identity Marks

Why expansion needs flexibility

Hello, wonderful Reader!

It's been a fruitful couple of weeks! Lots of things are happening, and I'm learning to let my feelings of appreciation, gratitude and happiness e x p a n d.

In fact, expansion has been the call to action lately, and just last week, I landed a big opportunity that I'd been calling in for the past six months that is now a reality! 🀸

More on what this big thing is in the coming weeks. For now, I want to clear up one thing that I announced in my last email, something that seemed right at the time but turned out not to be.

I had announced that I was expanding the Open That Door podcast to include two episodes per week, one solo talk and one interview. At the time it felt right, but a day later, my next interview guest canceled, and I suddenly felt obligated to create content that up until then had been inspiring and easy, and now suddenly felt like a chore and a burden. 😬

Has this ever happened to you? You follow a nudge and then hit a wall? Well, it turns out that I was being called to expand, but not in a "quantity-over-quality" kind of way.

As soon as I gave myself PERMISSION to pivot, to return to the one-episode-per-week quota that I LOVE, the aforementioned big win came through for me, and my podcast felt alive, exciting and doable again.

All this is to say that I am committed to offering my weekly podcast content AND to leaving room for exciting new opportunities to flow in that allow me to give back and grow in even more meaningful and impactful ways.

I believe that there is always a win-win possibility available when we permit ourselves to see obstacles as opportunities to become MORE of who we are, and then use the feedback that life offers to take next right action.

Here's to you permitting yourself to pivot, even if it means changing your mind when pivoting is the next right thing to do.

Speaking of pivoting...

If you tuned into the Open That Door podcast this week, you heard that I followed through on a calling I've had for the past 33 years to change my last name to my maternal great-grandmother's surname, Rohrer.

I share the whole story and explore what we can do when our identity marks no longer fit us.

Last week on Open That Door

Last week, I had my all-time favorite acting coach, my friend, and one of the coolest, most badass dudes around on the Open That Door podcast.

Gregory Sims has lived a lot of life, from growing up surrounded by mental illness to overcoming addiction, to transforming a childhood belief that if he wasn't a famous actor it would prove he was a nobody into a knowing that he, like all of us, matters no matter what.

Greg is brilliant and it's worth catching every minute of this enlightening and very entertaining interview.

Reader, keep shining that light and following those nudges to become more of who you truly are.

And, keep opening that door to a life and livelihood you LOVE!

October 24, 2025 Hello, Reader!
